The Power of Positive Affirmations

Affirmations are positive statements about who you are or what you can become. They are useful to assist you in making a change to your belief system. We often absorb a lot of negativity in our lives from other people and our own negative self talk. Comments such as “I can’t do that” or “I'm tired” reaffirm our self doubt and beliefs.

Some tips

1) Affirmations must be believable to our conscious minds before they are accepted by our subconscious minds.
2) Visualise yourself achieving your desired outcome in a large colourful picture.
3) Inject feeling and emotion into it - the change won’t happen if you don't believe it will.
4) They are more effective if affirmed when you are in a relaxed state, either when you wake up or just before going to sleep.
5) Repetition is the key.
6) Say them out loud (preferably in private!).
7)  Create your own or choose a few of the statements below and begin using them on a daily basis.

Positive affirmations

1) I choose to live with a sense of excitement and possibility about all the uncertainty in my life
2) I can’t wait to stop smoking
3) I am attracted to healthy and nutritious food
4) I feel so full of energy and motivation
5) I am a loving and caring person and am loved and cared for

11) I allow my mind to relax and let go

15) I am creating a strong, positive loving atmosphere for those around me
