What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy uses the natural process of relaxation to encourage calm throughout the mind and body. This is known as trance state. It's a time when the subconscious mind becomes more open to accept positive suggestions, which can overcome anxieties, increase confidence levels and break habits. These positive suggestions will be based on the changes you wish to make.
As a trained professional I enlist the power of the imagination and utilise a wide range of techniques from story telling to direct suggestions to encourage beneficial change. It is generally considered helpful if the client is personally motivated to change, although a belief in just its possibility can be a sufficient starting point.
During hypnotherapy you’ll be invited to sit down with your feet raised. All you do then is simply relax. You may close your eyes when you feel ready to do so. You simply listen to my voice, or you may even choose not to listen, and that is fine. You will remain in control and you will not do or say anything that you don't want to. You will not be asked to speak during hypnotherapy. Some people feel as if they are floating, others experience heaviness in their body. You may feel a tingling sensation. The wonderful thing about hypnosis is that there is no wrong way to do it.
Towards the end of our session, you will be brought back to a fully conscious state. After a few moments you will feel refreshed and alert. Your session will last up to an hour and a half.
Possible Concerns
- This is not stage hypnosis, which is for entertainment purposes only. You will remain in control all of the time and will not say or do anything that you don’t want to. You will enter trance state just as deeply as you wish.

How many sessions will I need?
Sometimes just one session is sufficient but this will depend on each individual. Hypnotherapy can work quickly and beneficial change becomes apparent within a relatively few number of sessions. |
